Demolition Underway at Pinnacle Apartments

Get in now before the showroom has gone!

... and low pre-construction prices end!

At the end of last month, Developer Martin Kells signed the building contract with Andrew Burden, a director of selected builder, Summit Construction.

This means that deconstruction (aka demolition) of the building's outer skin has begun. The demolition process will slowly work it's way up to the 8th floor, where Virgil and his team are located in the display suite.

Now is the time to get yourself over to Level 8, 18 Saint Martins Lane, Auckland to take a last look at the views and the display suite before, as Virgil so aptly puts it, "I have to parachute out of what's left of the window!"

This is also the last chance to secure low pre-construction prices. Virgil doesn't want to hear that you're upset because the price of the apartment you want to purchase has gone up.

Why should you be purchasing an apartment at the Pinnacle? We've discussed this before here and here but let's just remind ourselves of some of the other great reasons the Pinnacle is the place to be:

  1. More glass to wall ratio than most apartments on the market
  2. Freehold unit title with only four apartments per floor
  3. All apartments have balconies with surprising views from the harbour to the Waitakeres
  4. Superior exterior cladding with floor-to-ceiling double glazing and opening windows
  5. Every apartment is climate-controlled: maintaining a pleasant 19 degrees centigrade year round
  6. There's a second bathroom option with some apartments
  7. New layouts giving larger floor areas. All bedroom and living rooms face out to the light and view. There's no internal bedrooms
  8. Car park included in the purchase price
  9. 10% deposit, with the balance on completion which is approximately July 2016!
See you there, before Virgil has to parachute out of the showroom!

Nothing's a problem when you live at the Pinnacle

We've talked about why the apartments at Pinnacle are selling so well and last week, we chatted about why downsizing from a suburban home to a Pinnacle apartment is a fantastic idea.

But what about when guests come to stay?

No problem. Firstly, guests are going to want to stay with you because you're in town - right where the action can be found. No more conversations along the lines of:

Your guest: "We need to thank you for having us stay, what about dinner and a show on Friday night? our treat."
You: "Yeah, well that'd be a great idea, but Friday night traffic in Auckland" Sucks air through teeth and whistles, "We'd need to leave here at 4pm to make sure we're in the city in time to miss the traffic and get a park. And then there's the cost of car parking."
Your guest: "Oh, maybe we should just eat in and get a DVD."

Now, imagine if you're living in your apartment at the Pinnacle:

Your guest: "We need to thank you for having us stay, what about dinner and a show on Friday night? our treat."
You: "Great. I'll book the tickets. We can pop down the road for a bite to eat and then go onto the show. And there's a great new bar that's opened by the theatre, we could have a night cap there afterwards."
Your guest: "Great. Let's do it."

And because you're going to have guests to stay, you're going to need that second guest bathroom. No problem organising that at the Pinnacle. Just call Virgil today and ask to see the plans for Apartments A and B.

Downsizing? Seeking an attainable city-pad?

See why the Pinnacle offers the best value new apartments in Auckland

Why downsize and contemplate giving up the family homestead for an apartment in the City?
The answer is as varied as the people who have been through the Pinnacle Apartments' show space.

What's become apparent to the sales team is that most of the purchasers who have put 'pen to paper' are couples who are looking for a city pad, or to downsize and leave the trappings of the suburbs behind.

Why are our purchasers doing this?

Perhaps they want free time to do relaxing things for themselves and their extended families, or perhaps they simply want to avoid the morning rush hour traffic.

We couldn't be sure, so we sat down and had a think. Here are some of the reasons we've come up with:
  • An apartment's easier to maintain than a block of land in the suburbs. Throw the mower away - in fact, put the entire contents on the garden shed on Trade Me because, apart from a few planter boxes for your favourite herbs or flowers, you won't be needing any of it.
  • More time for doing the things that you want to do. Less floor space means less cleaning. Living on the 7th floor means that you're not going to be outside with a hose washing down the outside of the building.
  • It's mentally freeing to live in an apartment. You can't bring an entire house lot of furniture with you. Removing all that 'stuff' from around you will correspondingly free up your mind to focus on the new and exciting pursuits you'll have time for now you're not mowing lawns and cleaning the house.
  • You'll have less money invested in a Pinnacle Apartment than you had in the family homestead. This gives you financial freedom and with financial freedom comes the freedom to make choices that were unavailable to you when your capital was invested in the family homestead.
We're certain that there's plenty more reasons to purchase a Pinnacle Apartment but you should come and see for yourself why so many people are choosing to downsize and live in an apartment in the City.

5 Reasons Pinnacle Apartments are Selling Fast

1.  Best Value

You'll be hard pressed to find better value in Auckland than Pinnacle Apartments. All two-bedroom apartments come with  a secure car park. Secure car parking means that although you're living in a high density area, you don't have to worry about dings and scratches, or random break ins.

Who wants to head out of the door in the morning to find that their wing mirror is hanging by a thread, or (horror or horrors) there's been a break-in overnight and your window is sitting in little bitty pieces all over the driver's seat?

2.  New optional layouts

The architect has worked carefully to ensure that each of the four apartments on each floor have been laid out to take advantage of the surrounding area. All living rooms and bedrooms face out to the view - there's no internal bedrooms.

There's flexibility to rearrange the floor plan to suit your needs. Apartments A & B have a new optional two bathroom plan giving one of the bedrooms its own ensuite.

3.  A community of owner occupiers

News from the sales office: Almost all of the buyers at Pinnacle apartments are local people and a large percentage of them intend to live in their apartment. As more apartments sell, it's becoming obvious to the team that this will be a community of mainly owner occupiers.

4.  No gardening

If you love the idea of looking out over a tree-lined park, but not having to do any of the work, then these apartments are for you. No more mowing the lawns at the weekend - you're free to go and do whatever you please. If you still like the idea of a few micro-greens for your salads, then every apartment has a balcony that is ideal for this purpose.

5.  Increased safety

Pinnacle Apartments have several layers of entry. A security gate, a main door and then the door of your apartment.  It's far more difficult for a thief to gain entry to your apartment when these security measures are in place.

There's also the benefit of 'many sets of eyes' that come with living in proximity of your neighbours. It's much harder for a thief to get large items out of an apartment building without running into someone who is coming or going.

Then there's also the added feeling of security that comes with knowing that you're living in a community of like-minded people who are all looking out for each other.

Give Virgil a call and come and see us at the show space today. Like so many other people, you won't be disappointed.

Brand new look for the Pinnacle

We're really excited to share these brand new images of the Pinnacle.
Inspired by German architects, Sauerbruch Hutton the design team at Paul Brown have taken the opportunity to introduce colour to the building to make it stand out. We think they've achieved their objective.

The bulk of the colour has been added to the stair core, and we can't wait to see the vibrant glow from the building at night.

Even the security gates have taken on the fabulous radiant colours of the building. There's no reason to worry about security at the Pinnacle.

Floor to ceiling windows in all of the rooms mean that the stunning views over Auckland are interrupted as little as possible.

You're so close to the action of the central city, but remain secluded in a beautiful green space with unique aspects from all apartments.

Don't take our word for it - come and visit our show space and take a look for yourself.

Why almost one-third of the Pinnacle Apartments have already sold

I learned today that almost one-third of the apartments at the Pinnacle have been sold already. This is a new development and I began to wonder why this should be the case.

What is it about this development that's attracting such positive interest from purchasers? I looked again at the location and immediately came to grips with why there is such demand for these apartments. I'll address some of these positive aspects in the next few blogs.

First up, one of the things I love about inner city Auckland is the large area of green space interspersed between its buildings. Bravo to our town planners, keeping these vital green spaces available for public use and enjoyment. The bonus is that you don't have to spend your weekends behind a lawn mower or on your knees weeding the garden - you can just enjoy the green space and the flower gardens.

Just across the Grafton Bridge, within walking distance of the Pinnacle is The Domain, Auckland's oldest spacious and diverse park. If you're not inclined to walk, then it's just a quick trip down in the lift to your allocated car park and you have all of greater Auckland immediately at your disposal.

The Domain is home to the War Memorial Museum, which sits at the highest point of the 75-hectare park that has been developed around the cone of an extinct volcano. Take your time enjoying the exhibits at the museum and then perhaps arrange to meet friends or family for a quick bite to eat at the museum's in-house cafe. If you prefer, you could take High Tea at the Wintergarden Cafe or simply pop in at The Kiosk for a takeaway coffee. Take a leisurely walk around the grounds and feed your lunch leftovers to the ducks at the duck pond. Spend some quiet time at the Wintergardens enjoying the temperate or tropical glasshouse dependent upon the prevailing season.

There's something for everyone just across the bridge from the Pinnacle Apartments and I guess that's why almost a third of the apartments have sold.

Why people choose to buy at the Pinnacle

What is the Pinnacle and where is the Pinnacle? These were questions I asked myself as I drove down the drive to the site of Pinnacle apartments.

Near the junction of Symonds Street and Karangahape Road you'll find the Pinnacle snuggled in amongst a stand of magnificent protected Oak Trees at the base of historic St Martins Lane.

After an unexpected trip in an elevator that reminded me of my early days working in Queen Street in the late 1980's (it's the retro wooden panels that take me back) I found myself on the 8th floor of the building.

The doors opened and I was met not only by the buzz of a huge crowd of people at an inner city apartment showroom, but I was also taken immediately by the magnificent views out over Auckland.  As buyers are saying, "Seeing the views first-hand from the eighth floor showroom I instantly understood the attraction."

As I walked the entire circumference of the building I couldn't help but take in the amazing changing city vista.  The view changed from a classic Auckland Rangitoto and harbour scene, across the city over the tree tops of the Domain and through to the mesmerizing motion of the Sunday afternoon traffic crossing Grafton Bridge. My favourite was the stunning view over those protected Oak trees and out to the Waitakere ranges beyond. I could just imagine sitting in my apartment, almost amongst the trees watching the sky change from blue to pink as the sun set in the evening.

Don't take my word for it. If you want to experience the beauty of an evening sunset at the Pinnacle, go along to one of the show space's open evenings, Tuesday and Thursday 7-8pm. 18 Saint Martins Lane.

The building will have floor to ceiling glass and all living and bedrooms face the views. As Pinnacle buyers are saying, "Where else in Auckland can you find a new freehold two bedroom apartment with a carpark included in this price range?"

Pop over and take a look. Fay & Virgil will make you very welcome.
